Modern Expressionist, Curator, & Writer
Dara is the Gallery Director at Craven Arts Council & Gallery, and a self-taught artist of 22 years. Currently her creativity is mostly expressed by planning, layout, and installation of exhibits featuring other artists, which she sees as a living piece of artwork itself. She chooses how the pieces play with each other and loves the reactions that doing so brings to all who view the exhibits.
Dara is excited to open her home studio and answer to the question that she is asked most often by other artists, “What are you working on lately?” As coordinator of the Bear Town Bears Program, it is sometimes a Bear “hospital.” Yet she is a modern expressionist artist working mostly in acrylic and mixed media. When walking through Dara’s studio you will see pops of color and fluid movement on large canvases and creations using her written words and found objects.
