Baskets and Watercolor Artist
Linda has been a basket weaver for over 35 years and creates watercolors as well. She has tried knitting, crocheting, jewelry, and felting, but weaving is her main obsession, with watercolor coming next.
Linda has both taught and taken classes at many state conventions. She is currently teaching the art of basket weaving to small groups. For the past 4 years, she’s been a member of the Community Artist Gallery and Studios.
Woven watercolor painting is one of the arts that she enjoys. She’ll create two identical watercolor paintings except for the colors. Then they are put through a pasta machine, cut into strips, and woven back together. The result appears somewhat abstract even though one can immediately recognize the subject matter. Linda also creates baskets from watercolor paintings using traditional methods, but to make them more contemporary, she incorporates wire and beads into the designs.
