It all began with Ben Watford playing in clay while growing up in rural Hertford County North Carolina. At 92 years young, Ben creates at least one face jug a day. He graduated from Howard University and received his master’s degree from Tuskegee University. Ben taught chemistry for 30 years on Long Island, New York then retired and moved to New Bern.
Ben has published several books and has his pottery in galleries across Eastern North Carolina, along with the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. He has received several awards and has been very active in the community touching the lives of so many people.
