Sculpting & Pottery

Lisa and Pat Connell are a husband-and-wife collaborative team. They apply wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques to create face jugs and other pottery, using mid-fire stoneware clay and mixing most of their own glazes from raw ingredients.

Lisa has retired from Craven County schools after 19 years as a middle school art teacher. Pat retired from the golf course industry after 30 years and has taken up pottery.

The Connells’ handcrafted jugs and pottery are inspired by traditional techniques and art history. They have been mentored by their Folk Artist friend Ben Watford. They like for people to laugh and have fun with their unique pottery because they sure have fun making it.
