Weaver, Quilter and Embroiderer
Guided by a lifelong desire to weave, in retirement, Beth Hiner journeyed weekly to the Beaufort Historic Site to learn and weave on antique looms.
Along with her “Wise Weaver” friends, she is constantly experimenting with texture and color to achieve both beautiful and interesting cloth. Her work is a combination of fiber arts, including, but not limited to: weaving, dyeing, knitting, felting, crocheting, quilting and embroidery. Each resulting piece is a unique expression of the artistic use of the original fiber. The ultimate goal is to beautify while being a pleasure to use.
Along with her woven items, Beth continues a family tradition of hand embroidery. She is also having fun creating “tummy time” quilts.
Beth is a member of Seacoast Spinners and Weavers Guild, the MidAtlantic Fiber Arts Guild and Handweavers Guild of America. Her work may be found at Southern Persnickety in New Bern.
