Fiber Artist

Paula Hissett began her lifelong desire of weaving over 20 years ago. Her journey started after classes at a local studio. Since then, she has been constantly exploring and creating intricate patterns and color combinations of a multitude of various fibers. Her work is a combination of fiber arts including dyeing fiber and cloth, pattern development, weaving, and knitting.

Paula is constantly exploring the design capability, of her many looms, to showcase, end results, including but not limited to towels, scarves, table linens, and anything fiber. Then there is her dye studio! Paula is investigates the many ways dye may be added to cloth and fiber resulting in stunning results.

Paula has been a member of the Seacoast Spinners and Weavers Guild, initiating weaving classes for children and adults, as well as the MidAtlantic Fiber Association and the Handweavers Guild of America.

Her work may be seen at the New Bern History Center, Community Artists Gallery & Studios, Inc., and at her home studio.
